Our Home for the Holidays

I don't quite know exactly what it is this year that is making the Holiday Season feel a little different to me. I have a few ideas, but can't put my finger on just one reason.... This year, we have our own little home to decorate. I have always loved to decorate our apartments for Christmas, but putting up the decor knowing that it is helping to bring a good spirit into our home just feels...special to me. I am posting this for a couple of reasons, one, I am pretty proud of Lando for being a good sport and putting up Christmas lights and our tree (both of which we found on KSL for a steal of a deal) and two, there are some out there that, even though we want to come visit and see, we know you won't be able to make it this year, so here ya go....

For any and all of you who happen to read this, if we haven't already, please consider this your holiday invite to come and see us. We can't promise much, but we can be sure to deliver some games, treats and I mean, just a night hanging out at the Webb's--what more could you ask for?!?

To stripe or not to stripe? It's no longer a question....

For a while now I have been wanting to paint stripes in my living room. Well, I figured if I wanted it done, I just need to do it myself, so I did. And this is how it turned out...

Then I didn't know where to stop: so I didn't, I wrapped it around the top of that wall onto the next, see?


So there it is, the color isn't at all what I was thinking it would be, but when all is said and done, I think it looks okay.

Thanks to Meagan (who I don't think looks at my blog) but she told me the secrets of how to do this and it worked out great. Now, onto the next project to keep me busy.

SYTYCD circa 2k9

Well, ladies and gents; get your jealous caps on because I have a great story for you. If you know me, be it a little or a lot, I'm sure you know how much I love SYTYCD. Well, that may be an understatement, the truth is, I am slightly obsessed with this show. I think it is the greatest thing EVER. I love to watch it, I love to vote every week, I love to reenact the dances, and I love to go to the concerts. Which is what I did this past weekend with some great friends... allow me to introduce--

Tawna, Amanda, Dana and Myself.

We had a great time at the show. This past season was pretty good (but nothing compared to season 4---See, it had my lover on that season, you may have heard of him, his name is Twitch). So, like I was saying, this past season was pretty good, but it was SO much better to see it live. It is amazing, you can feel such emotion watching them dance. And it is so unbelievable what these dancers can do. **In my heart, I am a true dancer. In reality, well, let's just say that I wouldn't make it to Vegas week.... but no worries, I don't let that get me down, I still dance all over the house (yeah, it's probably a good thing that I am home alone most of the time)
Anywho, the show was great, but one thing that I look forward to the most is meeting the dancers after wards. See, in the past, it has been outside and this is what we were prepared for. Amanda was in the car getting warmed up and I went to save us a place in line, see.....

I know I look pathetic, but I am a true groupie. Good news: we were only out there for a few minutes when this guy came out on his megaphone and said that there was going to be a change of plans. The change was that we all got to go inside with the dancers. See, there really weren't many people outside waiting, so it worked out real good for us.

We went in and it started with Ade. Who was super cute.
I know this is annoying to have it sideways, sorry! Just turn your head.
Then we went over to Phillip. Amanda wanted to challenge him to a dance off, but he had a torn ligament so he couldn't. We think that was just an excuse because he was too scared to compete against Amanda and her super sweet moves!

Then we met Brandon. I totally understand that he is fully gay, but come on, check out his muscles, this was CRAZY!!! He was so solid!
Then there was Evan. Who doesn't LOVE Evan?!? He was just as cute in person. I checked up on Ryan (his brother that also tried out, along with season 6, but didn't make either one) And he said that he is doing great. Just got back from a trip to Spain and joined some dance company. So, for those of you who cared (such as I) that is what Ryan is doing.

Then we met Kayla. Now I will admit, she drove me nuts this season, mainly because the judges loved her so much. But she was pretty cool, and totally gorgeous in person!!
Randi was the only on in the top ten that was from Utah. (well, Brandon is living in Utah, but he is from Miami) So it was fun to meet her, she was so so cute. And for those of you who remember the Butt Dance, we got a good Butt shot with her....
Then there was Kupono. He was so freaking annoying during the show, but afterward in person, he was normal. (except for the string in his ear--remember Amanda?!?!?)
Then we met Janett. She was my absolute favorite. One of the best of the season and definitely my favorite of the night. She was so super tiny!!! But had the biggest personality in the whole group! There is more to Janett's story, but that will come....We then made our way over to meet Jason. He was adorable! I was so excited to ask him if him and Jeanine were dating, when we asked ( I think Amanda asked him) he said no. Then he said that he was dating Janett! I didn't believe him, I may have even called him a liar and then I think he started to get a little bugged, Jason was great though. Jeanine was next. She was so super cute and her hair was Be.A.Utiful!!! I really liked her. During the show, it was probably her and Ade that amazed me the most, I mean they were both great on tv, but to see them dance in person, I just can't even describe.....Last, but not least, we met Melissa. She was so fun, and actually had more of a personality that I thought she would. (And, yes, I know they were fake, but she had gorgeous eyelashes too.)
So back to Janett. Amanda wanted to ask her about Jason, so she did. (which is just one of the reasons I heart Amanda) The coolest thing about Janett was that she told us the whole story about how she was dating this guy and how they broke up and when and how she and Jason met and then about her family and him. I just loved it, she was the best.

So that was our night. Very very fun! Season 6 is on now and it is going to be a good one! I have some favorites, they are Karen, Russel and Legacy. Don't judge me if I may have voted more than I can count on my hands (and feet) last night for them. I am just doing my part to ensure their spot in the top ten so when they come on concert, we will be able to meet.

RAGNAR Vegas Style Baby!

So another fun filled, sleep deprived, triple legged, crazy teams, Ragnar Relay has come and gone. This time it was in Vegas. I have done the Wasatch Back the past two years. This past June after completing the Wasatch Back (or Dub B as I may start calling it) I learned of a new race opening up in Vegas this fall. If you participated in both, the Dub B and Vegas Ragnar, not only would you receive your medals for each race, on top of that you would get an official limited edition 'Saints and Sinners' Medal! What?!?! Count ME in! So when I learned of this news, I shared it with my team, hoping, but not sure if anyone would bite. (At this point I had run with the majority of this team twice in one of the most insane races around, yeah I should have not under-estimated these people). Of course they were in! So we rightfully named our Vegas team 'All for a Medal?' And it was fantastic!

It started out the night before the race at Mary Ann's house gathered together for a team bonding spaghetti dinner. I am in full support of making this a tradition! It was so much fun to get both van's together and hang out before the race even started. Then came the decorating of the vans. Our team name may have been 'all for a medal?' But we decided to play up on the whole Saints and Sinners theme of said medal. One van were the Saints and one van were the Sinners. Those in the Saints van wore Halos during their runs and those in the Sinners van wore devil horns during theirs.

that 'thing' strapped to the front of our van was our mascot, Louie.

We started at 9:30 Friday morning in Logandale Valley of Fire, Nevada. 171 miles and 27 hours later, we ended at the Red Rock Casino in Vegas. This race was so fun to do, but I have to say that it will not take the place of Dub B in my heart!

Let me introduce you to my team....

On the left side we have the sinners...Dick Johnson, Jonathan Nelson, Penny Jensen, Mary Ann Schoenfeld, Amanda Webb and Tawna Patterson. Then the Saints....Mike James, Dixie Johnson, Natalie Lowry, Rocky Turner, Marcia Johnson and Derek Sharp.

Jonathan started us off.........STRONG.Then came Dick...

Then Penny, one of my good good friends and also an Animal with a capitol 'A'.This is her, running this race and due in Feb. At first she liked all of the people cheering her on when they saw she was pregnant,but that got old real fast. From there on out, she was more than happy when she wasn't noticed.

Then came Tawna...
Then to Mary Ann....And finally to me...Let me say this, it was H.O.T. On all of these races, my first legs are always up hill and always in the heat of the day. I even got a sunburn on my arm in the shape of my music player... see?okay, so you can't see it very well here, but I promise, it was there and it was bad.

This is my AWESOME van getting ready to start our midnight runs.Now our midnight runs were filled with adventure, I will just say this.....Ragnar better step up their game next year for this race and mark the dang course, I ran a while in the wrong direction and turned my 5.3 mile leg into about an 8 mile leg. (mary ann joined me for part of this leg and got lost with me, then jonathan came looking for us in the middle of no where and added a little over four miles onto his mileage as well, it was a llllloooonnnnngggg night.)

Over the course of 27 hours spent in the van you start to get a little tired, wired and shameless with the photos you take, here we go....not so bad right? just wait...this was me with gobstoppers in my lip....aka bunny face.

When all is said and done, I am so proud of myself for doing this race and proud of my great team for doing it with me.
and just in case you were worried that we had forgotten Louie, no need, he crossed the finish line with us too....
So many people ask me why I run.
I think, if you have to ask, you'll never understand.

Confessions of a Non-Gardener

Okay, this is embarrassing, but I am going to admit to it and share it with you all. I am not a gardener. That is not the embarrassing part. I really try to and sometimes I even think I am. You know, in my mind I have my own show on HGTV and the whole shpill. Again, that is not the embarrassing part. I have a couple of pots out in the front of my house and when we first moved here I filled them with flowers with hopes of them taking root and looking beautiful. Sadly this was not the case. They died. So I thought, what-ev. I'll just plant more. This I did. When to my dismay these new flowers didn't do too hot, I refused to spend more money and time on flowers that just die on me, so I was done. I came to this conclusion when one day I noticed a little green miracle in my pretty orange pot outside. Once just a twinkle in my eye was now a reality in bloom. I watched this little gem and it grew and grew. This was the most amazing flower EVER. Even when I would be gone for a few days and didn't water it, it looked great! Okay, here is the embarrassing part: The day that I realized my amazing strong flowers were in fact---weeds. Yeah that's right, the only thing I can keep alive are weeds. Now for the really embarrassing part. Even after I realized this, I left it in my pot. My thoughts were this, 'Well, at least it adds some green. I think I'll leave it in there.' So last week I went to work in Cache Valley and came home to my dear beloved weeds really taking over. (which I guess is what they do, hence weeds, right?!?) I only hope that no one who has come to my door knows the difference between weeds and flowers. Just pray that the adorable Gay couple that live across the street with the immaculate garden don't look over here and see my disgrace of a pot of plants.

So there you have it, my confession. In all it's glory.
