Arizona

Every year Landon's work has this district meeting. Last year it was in Phoenix and this year it was in Tuscon. The spouses and family are all invited to go. We had a great time. (Me and Oliver probably more so than Landon because we didn't have to sit in meetings all day.) It was fun to take Oliver on the plane, it was really good practice for Mexico next week. There is A LOT more stuff to pack with that little guy around...

The plane ride there really was an experiment for us. I knew that Oliver would need to have his bottle on the plane, no big deal. I figured that since they offered hot coffee as a complimentary beverage that they would have hot water. I was wrong. We were in the very back row of the plane, which means that we were very last to be served. Oliver was starting to turn into crabby pants and the stewardess was only half way back to us. I went up and asked her if she had some hot water and she informed me that she would be back to help me very soon.
*side note, our stewardess looked like she had stuck her face out of the moving plane. I am all for plastic surgery if that is what you want, but for heavens sake, still have your face able to move.*
So, by the time she made her way back to us, Oliver was full out not happy. I asked for some hot water and she said that there was none. I wonder how they get the coffee hot.... So, here is what I did. As much as I hate it, Oliver wont take a cold bottle, but I had it all mixed up anyways. So I took the vomit bag, ripped the top off to make a little short bag, put some oatmeal in with the cold formula. Then I asked for a spoon. Lame me didn't pack one in the diaper bag and lame plane didn't have one either. So, I dipped his Binky in the oatmeal and fed him that way. I am sure it was good entertainment for those around us. Lucky for us, that was as dramatic as our trip got.
Once we got to the resort, there was plenty of time to relax.

One morning, all of the wives went to the meetings with their husbands- I had zero desire to go sit through boring Kiewit stuff. I had Oliver in the daycare they provide and went to the gym. After that I got ready to go to the pool, but the meetings were still going on. I was in the room all alone and was feeling super bored. What do YOU do when you get bored? Me? Well, I do this....

Each night, they have these fancy dinner parties. Mainly it is a good way for everyone to loosen up and get drunk. But not this group.

I ask you another question...What do you do whey you are at a party where everyone is drinking and you are in the small crowd that doesn't? We do this...

After our awesome sober photo shoot and a dazzling game of add-on, the boys wanted to soak in the hot tub. So we girls went back to Liz's room and did this....

We really had a good time. The background of this photo was so pretty during the day, I wish I would have remembered to get a photo of it...

Update- Chapter 3

This should catch me up. Hopefully. Well, Oliver is coming up on 6 months old. I can hardly believe that! Here are his 4 and 5 month photos...

I know all these updates are about Oliver and I do apologize for that, but, then again, not really, he IS pretty cute...

At four months, he got his first teeth. There were about four days there that I wanted to send him back because my happy little guy turned into this crabby pants, but, it passed and the little teeth are darn cute.

The continuation of Oliver and Wilson. I just love these two together...

So, enough about Oliver, onto me... I had my Feb. race all planned out. Last Saturday here in Bountiful, sweet shirts and just a 5k. Great. So, I show up, drive all over the parking lot, can't find a spot. Drive a couple of blocks away and finally find a spot to park. I run back to the start and ask a volunteer where to register. She sends me inside to a desk. I ask the person at that desk where to register. She sends me across the room to another desk. I ask that person where to register. She sends me out to another room to another desk. I find that desk. I ask that person where to register. She tells me that they only have a womens small or a mens medium size shirt left, but if I would fill out this paper, she will send me one of what ever size I want. So I fill out the paper and ask, so, I am now registered? She says, no and sends me to another desk to talk to 'Molly'. 'Molly' will get me registered. OK. So, I find Molly and ask to register. Molly tells me that registration has just closed. great. awesome. I may or may not have shed a couple of tears. As I am walking back to my car trying not to be too upset and walking through the crowds of runners that were indeed registered, I decided to drown my sorrows in a tanning bed. Tan therapy actually helps. Really. On my way home, I see a sign for an Oreo stacking contest. I say to myself, self- I bet you can stack Oreos. And in fact I can. I went in sad about a race and walked out feeling pretty good with two bags of Oreos I won for my incredible stacking abilities. There isn't a 5k that I know of where I would leave with two bags of Oreos. All in all, my day turned out pretty fantastic!

Oh, and just in case you were wondering about my official Feb race, I have a 10k lined up for this Saturday. I am still on track for my race a month goal. Holla!

Just putting it out there...

So, I've heard that when you have a goal, if you tell people about it, you are far more likely to follow through. Here it is, my goal for 2011 is to do at least one race every month this year. I did my January race on the 15th in Park City. It was actually a snow shoe 5k, but they said even if you don't have snow shoes, come and run in your tennies. So we did. We were two of about 5 people that didn't have any snow shoes. There was a reason it was a snow shoe race. There was a section of the race that was about a mile long that was on a single track literally on the side of the mountain. We were going through snow that was no joke, up to our knees. Hence the snow shoes. Yeah, that would have been way easier. But we did it, race one done and only 11 more to go. I have my next one on the docket for Feb 12 in Bountiful 'The Sweetheart 5k'. (I promise not all of my runs will just be 5ks.) Yesterday, I ran my first 10k of the season and I have to say I felt pretty awesome! So there it is, my goal for this year, I'm just putting it out there.

You've just got to have jumping photos...

Update Chapter 2

So, it's been a long time coming, but here is Chapter 2. I am sad to say, this will not catch me up and there will be more chapters to come....
Oliver had his first Christmas. Even though he wasn't the newest baby in the Nelson family, he was able to be the baby Jesus in the annual nativity. It was great!

Oliver and Uncle Jordan on Christmas morning.

Oliver and his first Christmas gift from Santa-

This was our Christmas Card this year. Our first official full family photo.

I think Oliver's faces are so funny!

This was his three month mark.

Now, I mentioned the newest member of our family. Let me introduce you to Tuna. Landon was able to get a truck from his work for his commute. This has been such a good thing seeing as his commute is about 40 min, this truck and not having to pay that extra money in gas has been really nice.

This one is just because I don't think I can have enough of him.

This is Mr. Oliver in his handsome blessing outfit- which just so happens to be the same outfit his dad was blessed in...

Oliver got one of those door jumper things and this was his first time in it...

He turned around and around...

Then he got tired.

This video is for Aunt Mary Ann and Aunt Mer--
